Updated: June 2007 We care about maintaining your privacy. The information you share is used only to make your browsing experience with us more pleasant and efficient, and to provide you with the merchandise you specifically request. It is NEVER shared with a third party without your consent and you can always opt out of being included in any mailings sent out by us.
Here are our policies in more detail:
We request personal information when you register for a Sergeant's Western account, for online shopping or transactions, or for services that require registration or subscription (for example, fantasy bull riding). Sergeant's Western needs to collect this information for fulfilling prizes and tracking/verifying compliance with Sergeant's Western policies as well as federal, state and local laws and/or for editorial and feedback solicitation purposes.
As part of our normal order fulfillment process, we provide the following information to our vendors who in turn provide that information to the shipping provider:
Ship to name Ship to address Ship to phone number If you decide to register on our site, make a purchase request or agree to participate in a promotion, we collect and store the following types of information: Name Address E-mail address Telephone number Credit Card – We retain only a portion of the credit card number, card type and expiration date. (For example: 1411XXXXXXXX1411) We need this information to fulfill your order. We may also use this information to customize your experience using our website. If you order a gift to be sent directly to the recipient, we will ask for the recipient’s name, address and telephone number. Any order status emails will be sent to you rather than the recipient. The shipping carrier will need the recipient’s phone number in case there are difficulties delivering the order. An IP address is a number that's automatically assigned to your computer whenever you're surfing the web. Web servers -- the big computers that "serve up" web pages -- automatically identify your computer by its IP address. Sergeant's Western collects IP addresses for the purposes of system administration, to report aggregate information to our advertisers, and to audit the use of our site. When guests request pages from Sergeant's Western sites, our servers log the guests' IP addresses. We do not normally link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that a user's session will be logged, but the user remains anonymous to us. We can and will use IP addresses to identify a user when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with our house rules or terms of service or to protect our service, site, customers or others. Some services within Sergeant's Western, such as certain message boards, may display IP addresses along with the message poster's name and message. Please review each service prior to use and only use those that disclose information you are comfortable with sharing.
Cookies are pieces of information that a web site transfers to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping purposes. Cookies make seb surfing easier for you by saving your preferences while you're at our site. We never save passwords or credit card information in cookies. The use of cookies is an industry standard -- you'll find them at most major web sites. By showing how and when guests use a site, cookies help us see which areas are popular and which are not. Many improvements and updates to the site are based on such data as total number of visitors and pages viewed. This information is most easily tracked with cookies. We use the information from cookies to provide services better tailored to our users needs. Sergeant's Western has two primary uses for its cookies. First, we use them so that you can specify your unique preferences. Secondly, we use cookies to track user trends and patterns. This helps us better understand and improve areas of the Sergeant's Western service that our users find valuable. While both of these activities depend on the use of a "cookie," visitors to Sergeant's Western always have the option of disabling cookies via their browser preferences. Information from cookies is sometimes attached to messages sent to our Customer Service department. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, note that some parts of the Sergeant's Western service will not function properly or may be considerably slower if you refuse cookies. For example, without cookies, you may have difficulty completing shopping transactions or entering contests. You may occasionally get cookies from our advertisers. Sergeant's Western does not control these cookies. The use of advertising cookies sent by third-party servers is standard in the Internet industry.
Because our goal is to provide products that best meet your needs, we evaluate your personal interactions with us in an effort to bring you the products which best suit your tastes. In addition, we use your information to improve our marketing and promotional efforts, to statistically analyze site usage, to improve our content and product offerings and to customize our site’s content, layout, and services. We may use your information to deliver information to you that, in some cases, is targeted to your interests, such as targeted banners, new products, services and promotions. At times we may ask you to provide us voluntarily with additional information regarding your personal or business interests, experience or requests, which we may use to customize our products and services for you. The email addresses that we collect are used by us to contact consumers for marketing purposes and are not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes unless you’ve requested to receive email offers from carefully selected marketing partners of Sergeant's Western. If you place a request for products or services, we use your personal information to ship your order; if the products or services are from a retail partner, we may provide your relevant information to that retailer for purposes of the transaction. If you establish a credit account with us or our providers, we collect additional information, including billing information, credit card number and expiration date, and tracking information from checks or money orders. We may also use or disclose information to resolve disputes or investigate problems. We may disclose or access information whenever we believe in good faith that the law so requires or if we otherwise consider it necessary to do so to maintain service and improve our products and services. We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our servers, to manage our website and to enhance our site based on the usage pattern data we receive. We do not knowingly collect or use personal information from children under 13 without obtaining verifiable consent from their parents. We have no way of distinguishing the age of individuals who access our website, and so we carry out the same Privacy Policy for individuals of all ages. If a child has provided us with personal information without parental or guardian consent, the parent or guardian should contact us to remove the information and opt out of promotional opportunities. For more information about the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), visit the FTC website: www.ftc.gov.
There are only two instances this information would ever be passed on to anyone outside of our organization: - When we believe in good faith that the law requires it.
- In special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) Western Warehouse's rights or property, other Western Warehouse users, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.
There are no other reasons we would share your personal information – and we hope that you find the above reasons to be understandable.
During the order fulfillment process, we email you to update you on the status of your order. These emails are typically related order confirmation, shipping notification, delivery notification and shipment delay notifications.
In October of each year, we will email you a reminder of the products you purchased from us. We do this to make sure that you know who to contact if you have questions, comments or issues with the products you have purchased.
You can opt-in for our general newsletter and product notifications.
When you supply us with your postal address or phone number online you may receive periodic mailings or phone calls from us.
You should be aware that when you are within the Sergeant's Western site, you could be directed to other sites that are beyond our control. For example, if you "click" on a banner advertisement, a Sergeant's Western search result, or a link within our “Cowboy Culture” section, that "click" could take you off the Sergeant's Western site. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data or solicit personal information. Please keep in mind that whenever you give out personal information online --- for example, via message boards or chat --- that information can be collected and used by people you don't know. While Sergeant's Western strives to protect its user's personal information and privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose online and you do so at your own risk. Sergeant's Western's policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond Sergeant's Western's control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation. The importance of security for all personally identifiable information associated with our visitors is of utmost concern to us. We exercise great care in providing secure transmission of your information from your PC to our servers. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Sergeant's Western can't ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. When credit card information is transmitted we use industry standard, SSL (secure socket layer) encryption. Your Sergeant's Western Account is password protected so that only you can access it and view the member information relevant to the account. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. Sergeant's Western will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or email. Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and any account information. Remember to sign out of your Sergeant's Western account and close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if your computer is accessible to others or if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or internet café.
We keep your information only for your own convenience and we never store your credit card data. However, if for any reason you wish to change or remove your information, we invite you to contact us at catassistant@btwwretail.com. Please note that the only information we gather (besides anonymous IP addresses) is submitted to us voluntarily.
To keep you in control of your personal information and the communications directed to you, we allow you to opt-out of the following services: sharing your information in our member directory and receiving communications from Sergeant's Western about new features or services. If you object to such use for any reason, you may stop that use -- either by e-mail request to Sergeantsweb@btwwretail.com or by modifying your member information online. Information provided when purchasing products from any of our online stores may be used for marketing and promotional purposes and is subject to the opt-out processes described on, or linked to, each order form.

The practices and policies in this disclosure replace all previous notices or statements with respect to the same subject matter. By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of this information in the manner we describe. If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy policy or the practices of this site, please email us at Sergeantsweb@btwwretail.com. We are committed to providing you with a comfortable and enjoyable online experience.
